A WordPress Full Site Editing rebuild for a Dutch energy collective — faster to redo than to update
The client's existing WordPress site ran on an ancient Avada theme install with years of missed updates across WordPress, PHP, the theme, and all plugins. A full rebuild using WordPress Full Site Editing was the cleaner and faster path — the result is a refreshed, maintainable site the client can actually keep up to date.
Sometimes the right call is a clean rebuild rather than untangling years of deferred maintenance.
Alphen Energie's existing site ran on a heavily outdated Avada theme, with WordPress, PHP, the theme, and all plugins years behind their current versions. Updating everything in place would have been a risky, time-consuming process with unpredictable breakage at every step. Starting fresh with WordPress Full Site Editing was faster, cleaner, and left the client with something they could maintain going forward.
The rebuild used WordPress FSE with a block-based theme, giving the client a straightforward editing experience without the complexity of a page builder. The design got a modest refresh — cleaner layout, better typography — while keeping the existing brand and content intact.
