Het Nationaal BIM Platform
WordPress FSE rebuild from a hacked and corrupted database — including a Vue-powered BIM software matchmaker built as a new business model
Het Nationaal BIM Platform ran on the same server as Mediacontent — same hack, same malware. But here the database itself was corrupted beyond recovery. Using locally held data as the source, I rebuilt the entire platform as a WordPress FSE site, recreated all existing features, and built BIM-Q: a Vue-powered survey tool that matches construction professionals with the right BIM software and tracks market interest to support a new business model.
Same server, same hack — but a different outcome.
Where Mediacontent had a recoverable backup, HNBP's database was completely corrupted. The client had kept a local copy of their core content, which became the starting point. Rather than attempt to reconstruct the infected installation, we rebuilt the entire platform from the ground up as a WordPress Full Site Editing site.
Rebuilding the platform All existing features were recreated in the FSE rebuild: news and articles, company profiles, an events agenda, and a services section. The FSE approach gives the client a clean block-based editing experience they can maintain without developer involvement.
BIM-Q — a new feature and a new business model The most significant new addition was BIM-Q, built as a distinct section of the platform. BIM-Q is a software matchmaker for the construction industry: users answer a short survey about their role, workflow, and requirements, and the tool recommends BIM software, applications, and cloud solutions that fit their situation.
The survey and results interface was built with Vue components embedded in the WordPress FSE theme. Behind the scenes, BIM-Q tracks which users are interested in which software — giving the client real market intelligence about BIM adoption in the Netherlands and a data-driven foundation for a commercial business model around software vendors and resellers.
